Pick a Card
I’m a big believer in business cards (…despite the fact that I was caught empty handed at Gayle King’s show yesterday). On one too many occasions I’ve met someone without a card whose name I swear to myself I will remember, only to come up blank days later and then the opportunity is lost. So when Minted, an online paper design company, asked that I be one of the judges for their recent Design Challenge, I was thrilled… and overwhelmed! There were SO many to choose from and they are all amazing! I was surprised to find that most of my faves were cards designed for and by men and not so surprised to find I love the cards designed for moms (yes, Rochelle, I would like to meet for margaritas). Here are a few of my faves and now I’d love you to help me pick. Which card should I select as the winner?

I vote on Camilla Baker for interior design.

Many of these are interesting, but not necessarily functional. Some are just plain hard to read. For that reason I vote for the Outdoorsman – George James Smith. Out of these examples I think he has hit a great balance between creativity and functionality.

Hi Nicole –
Rochelle and Catherine’s cards are my two favorite designs. I see them as being the most versatile of the bunch.

The Words or Interior Design cards are the most memorable and unique to me. You’ve got a tough job, judge!

They are all gorgeous — I see the difficulty in judging! That said, the words and interior design cards speak the most loudly and convey in a creative manner, what they DO for their clients. I’d love to steal the words card — but won’t!

Tooo many with tooooo many words.
Ms. Baker is the business card attention grabber (of course it only works for an interior designer).

I like the Interior Designer paint card the best!

I choose The Outdoorsman and Camilla Baker for their mesh of form and function.
I like the simplicity of each that still creates a memorable image. I’ve designed my own cards before but this takes it up a giant notch!

Camilla Baker has the best look and reminds me of more things you can do with a paint chip. I’ve seen paint chips arranged on a canvas that make a mosaic with shades and hues artistically placed.

Hi Nicole! I just wanted to say thank you for choosing my card as one of your faves! My name is Lori James of guess what?, and I designed the Good With Words card at the top. It didn’t end up as your top pick, but I’m still just so thrilled that you liked it! Thanks again! Love your site + blog, btw!!

Nicole,
I just wanted to drop a line and thank you for choosing ‘Mom of Many Names’ as your favorite design while acting as a guest judge for Minted’s competition. I am so honored and just blessed to be a part of an awesome design community. I am sure that Rochelle would love to meet you for a margarita, and so would I! Thanks again, have a wonderful day.
