Finally Giving In

I’ve been asked on no less than a hundred occasions: “Do you have a blog?” After I admit I don’t have one (we do have the Career Girl blog on the nicolewilliams.com site that I allow people to think is me only because it’s so fucking funny), I can tell they think I’m one of three things: stupid, behind the times and lazy. My real excuse is more complicated than that. For one, when you’re building a media brand it really does have to be reflective of the true you, but with an edge of ‘I’ve got it all together’ which is frankly exhausting to maintain. Why would I add another platform into the mix? Two, even though (and maybe because) I’m a career expert, I work with a lot of fucking idiots (not my team of course) and considering all I do is work that’s where I would get most of my fodder. And three, I don’t find anyone interesting enough to follow each and every week, so the idea of enticing you with material that keeps you coming back is more than a little daunting.

That said, I’m giving in…I’ve decided to wrap my foray into blogville around my new book Girl on Top and all the fun that I hope to God is going to come with its release. But here are the rules: a) I swear like a trucker, b) I’ll try as much as possible to keep my staff, vendor, agent etc. names out of it but if you think you’re the fucking idiot I’m writing about, don’t take it personally and c) this is the only thing (other than the book) that I’m actually going to write myself and if it’s going to work I need to be able to be honest with you in that without-the-professional-sheen-kinda-way.
